Annealing

Annealing is a heat-treating process for softening metals through a controlled heating cycle with temperatures above the recrystallization temperature.  The result is a homogeneous microstructure.

Process Characteristics

Is used as a softening process, for example, in cold-working process sequences or to create other desired properties
Presents
Provides sufficient ductility and machinability for subsequent machining processes or for intended end use
