Plaster Mold Casting

Plaster mold casting is a metal casting process in which nonferrous molten metal is poured into a nonreusable, shaped plaster mold and held until solidification occurs.

Process Characteristics

Utilizes gravity to feed molten metal into a nonreusable plaster mold
Is limited to nonferrous metals
Produces smooth surface finishes and fine details compared to sand casting
Produces minimal scrap material
Can produce thin-walled sections and complex shapes
