Lancing

Lancing is a combined shearing and bending operation where a portion of the
periphery of a hole is cut into the workpiece and the remainder is bent to the
desired shape. No material is removed from the workpiece by this process.
Process Characteristics
 | Cuts a portion of the periphery of the hole, and
the remainder is bent to the desired shape |
 | Removes no metal from the workpiece |
 | Can use a single cut to facilitate the making of
special features |
