Thread Cutting is a machining process that uses a single-point tool to
produce a uniform helical thread form on the internal or external surface of a
cylinder or cone.
Process Characteristics
 | Produces helical thread forms |
 | Requires multiple threading cuts |
 | Uses accurately ground single-point threading tools |
 | Produces stringy chips |
 | Requires constant positional relationship between the tool,
workpiece, and the leadscrew. |
